New individuals were born at the beginning of each summer step. For each redd, a date of emergence of the alevins from the gravel of their redd (DateEmergencei) was computed depending on the cumu- lated daily water temperatures during winter. A degree day (DD) threshold for emergence, DDEmergei, was chosen from a uniform distribution between DDEmergeMin and DDEmergeMax (Table 2). DateEmergencei was then chosen as the day on which the sum of T(t) (the water temperature for day t, see Section 2.1.7.9) commenc- ing on DateReprodi exceeded DDEmergei . In each redd, egg mortality was influenced by river temperature, river flow and a global pop- ulation density effect. Thus a survival rate component integrating the temperature effect (tSurvivali) until emergence was computed as: |
