Only sexually mature individuals at reproduction time were concerned by this process. They were first grouped in three pools: anadromous females (AF), anadromous males (AM) and mature parr (MP). Mature female parr are only rarely observed in natural populations and were also set to happen very seldom in IBASAM; Parameters were setup according to this hypothesis (see the corresponding SM3 and SM7 parameters in XXXX).

During the reproduction process, anadromous males (AM) and mature parr (MP) were pooled together with the anadromous females. Each AF_i was attributed randomly a potential number of AM as potential mates according to a Poisson distribution of parameter MeanNMales (Table 2).

AF were sorted along their weight (W) and were attributed in order Nmalesi specific AM depending on the availability and the weight of these AM and the potential number of AM just drawn. If for an AF i the number of available AM was lower than the potential number of AM then all the available AM were attributed to i. Otherwise, AMs were successively and randomly picked among the available AM with for each of these AM j a probability to be selected following: |
